Let’s explore the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve. It is part of the UNESCO declared Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve. Situated in the Franschhoek Mountains, the reserve offers spectacular views of the Franschhoek Valley, diverse plant life and some nice hiking trails.

This hike is for everyone who can walk, breathe and who is not completely unfit as there are some very view inclines. So this is for everyone who loves nature and is not in a rush. 🙂

sunblock, closed shoes, a hat 🧢, stretchy clothes (leggings), a backpack & 1x 1,5l bottle of water, maybe a swimsuit and a towel as there is a river.

Meeting point:
we are meeting at Mont Rochelle Parking in Franschoek or we will do an organised car sharing. (please keep in mind that there is a permit for R50 required – no cash payments )

This is one of the most rewarding hikes in the Cape Peninsula with outstanding views, beautiful fynbos and the sound of the adjacent surf and horizons to hang your dreams onto. The summit has magnificent 360° views to experience the Peninsula in all its glory!

ME- time in nature, filling your soul, connecting to the beauty of Chapmans Peak and nourishing your body with a gentle Yoga session followed by a nice picnic with a view is just the best to recharge and get energy for the festive season.
For this hike you don’t have to be an experienced hiker or a super Yogi to, but you should not be totally unfit as we are walking up around 400m.

Meeting point:
Drive through Hout Bay and onto Chapman’s Peak Drive. Park your car at the last checkpoint before the main viewpoint. (Note: a Day Pass is applicable from the Hout Bay Side, but it is free if you tell them you are only doing the hike from the daypass circle)

Meeting point:
Drive out to Gordon’s Bay on the N2. At Sir Lowry’s Pass Village, take the turn-off to Gordon’s Bay. You will reach a T-junction when you arrive at Gordon’s Bay — turn left onto the R44 (the coastal road that leads to Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and finally Hermanus). After approx 6km you will cross a bridge. Parking is just further along the R44 towards Rooiels, just over the bridge and on the right-hand side.
